Jennifer Burke is an educator with over 30 years of experience. Her career began as a second grade teacher. During the early mainstreaming movement, she was the director of a program that placed and supported special needs preschoolers in community preschools. She homeschooled her two now-grown sons for several years, during which time she taught childbirth classes for pregnant adolescents. In 1991, she established and led a private school with 300 students, preschool through 8th grade, for 17 years. With her recent move from suburban Washington, D.C. to the Chicago area, Jennifer has returned to the classroom as a teacher of gifted students. She also does private tutoring.
Jennifer knows that great teachers are always looking for new ideas. This website is a collection of ideas gleaned over the years. Some originated from Jennifer’s peers, others were observed in excellent classrooms and some are from Jennifer herself. If you have ideas to share, please comment on the appropriate page and the tip will be added, along with credit to you as the source (and much appreciation from your fellow teachers!).
